Philip Harper Quinet
A great hard bop trumpeter who, in the mid 90's, became a more adventurous improvisor, he became well know 1988-1993 as a co-leader (with his older brother) of the Harper Brothers. He had previously toured with Art Barkley's Jazz Messengers and recorded with Cecil Brooks III, Joe Chambers and Errol Parker.After the Harper Brothers Band broke up he recorded as a leader for Muse and played with the Mingus Big Band. His quintet that night was a piano, alt and soprano sax, contrabass and drums.
